£1.35m Penny Pocket Park, Church Walk & York Street Regeneration

Riverside

Problem

Green spaces around Leeds Minster, Penny Pocket Park and York Street Gardens had become worn down, poorly lit and cut off from surrounding riverside homes.

Action

Paul chaired the multi-agency regeneration working group, secured £1.3m to £1.4m in capital funding and commissioned the 400th-anniversary Leeds city mural on Church Walk.

Result

Residents now have upgraded footpaths, new seating, clearer sightlines, commissioned public art and safer family green space in the heart of the ward.
