Following an offer by GoodGym Leeds to help clear the overgrowth around the spire and at the war memorial, Father Chris contacted the diocese to ask for their permission to do this work. Some of this grounds have been tidied up by the dioceses and the area looks much better.
Sadly, on health and safety grounds, the diocese has declined the request to allow access to the fence around the spire - which means we can not arrange to weed and clean-up around the memorial as we hoped. They have also indicated they will not allow access for Remembrance Sunday. Both myself and Father Chris are disappointed at this and I know residents will be.
