Here is Cllr Mohammed Iqbal and my reports to Hunslet Carr Residents Association, which was held on Thursday 1st May.

Dear Resident(s),
Moor Road at the junction of Arthington Avenue Speed Indicator Device: Funding to install a new SID has been approved and ordered. The timescales are 8-12 weeks from order, and this was around 8 weeks ago, so it is due anytime now.
Balm Road Footway next to Hunslet Methodist Church: We’re just waiting to speak to the church to cut back its overhanging bushes, at which point the Council will cut the grassed area it owns and add this to the maintenance contract going forward.
Woodhouse Hill Drive Road Surface: The Council and Yorkshire Water are still in legal conversations, as Yorkshire Water still refuses to accept LCC as the new developer of the road.
Rear Sandon Place Embankment Works: We’ve still not had a quote for a fence, but we have been told it will now be done in the next few weeks.
Moor Road and Royal Drive Pavement Parking: West Yorkshire Police are aware of the issues, but their focus has been on antisocial behaviour and drug-related crime, and so enforcing against the poor parking has had to be deprioritised for the moment. However, the civil enforcement officer is actively patrolling to enforce against civil restriction breaches such as dropped kerb blocking. There had been a letter issued (not by us) suggesting a possibility of the land from Arthington Court being used for car parking – this is not an option.
The Sun Inn: The owner has submitted a pre-application for the site following receiving a legal order from the council. Details have not been shared yet. Once we have these, they will be shared.
Arthington View A-frame Dropped Kerb: Highways Leeds have still not provided an assessment of the quote for works, and this has now been escalated to a manager in the service.
Antisocial Behaviour around Hunslet Carr Primary School: Complaints from residents and the school have reduced, suggesting the interventions from partners have worked. But services are mindful of several young people in the groups with complex needs and are still being monitored.
Balm Road/Belle Isle Road/Moor Road Junction Red Light Violations: Highways Leeds have still not booked in the tests to see the level of this happening, and this has now been escalated to get a date booked.
Antisocial Behaviour Around Arthington Stores: West Yorkshire Police and the Antisocial Behaviour Team are aware of the issues in the area, and the specific individual and the group involved are being worked with/monitored.
Hunslet History Interpretation Sign at the Library: We’ve been advised the draft should be ready within the next few weeks, which we’ll then share with residents for feedback.
Ebor Terrace Bins on Woodhouse Hill Road: We’ve been advised this is still ongoing, and refuse has advised they will contact the resident again to remind them they need to move their bins after collection from the street. If this does not happen, officers may consider using their formal enforcement powers.
St Mary’s Spire Crack: This concern has been raised with the diocese, and we’re awaiting a formal response from them about this.
Missing Stepped Fence Royal Close Ginnel and Fence at Royal Grove: Teams attended to install these last week at Royal Grove but were blocked by a parked van. For some reason, they then didn’t do the other job. We are chasing the service to get both rescheduled in and are working with Cleaner Neighbourhoods to have the van, which appears abandoned, removed.
Hunslet Square Mural: Last week the artist released a final draft. There were a few small amendments required following this, which have now been added. It will now be put before the owners of the Penny Hill Centre for final approval before going into production. The paved area in the square has now also been washed.
Footbridge Surface at Westbury Place North to Parnaby Road: National Highways have advised the work to resurface the footbridge should now happen between late July and September.
