The Combined Authority has recently approved funding for a deposit so it can order new zero-emission buses for first round of franchised bus services. In support of this a public consultation on bus design has started.

The consultation will run until Sunday 21st December 2025. They want to see what the public want their buses to look and feel like. The consultation will cover three key areas:

• Comfort - covering things like how warm or cool a bus is and seating types

• Accessibility - number of wheelchair spaces, announcements and more

• Staying connected on the move - Wi-Fi and USB charging

The feedback they receive will help shape the final design of the buses. To make this consultation a success, they need to hear from the right people. They also need to seek feedback from those who have been identified in our equality impact assessment as potentially more affected by bus design.

These include:

• People with disabilities

• Pregnant people and parents with young children

• Older people
