dewsbury road seating

It was really sad that we've had to take the decision to remove the seating and the planter away from outside of Dewsbury Road Community Hub.

This area had become incredibly problematic due to highly concentrated street drinking, with residents fearing for their safety, as well as some staff at the community hub reporting feeling deeply uncomfortable.

Yesterday saw the removal of the planter but we've been able to save the wood and it has been donated to Greenmount Primary School for a project they are doing, which I was happy to approve.

The benches, as previously reported, had already been redeployed to Hunslet Moor.

I know there has been some displacement of some of the street drinking to other benches across Dewsbury Road, but the concentration is less intense and disrupting activity is taking place to prevent this becoming ingrained, as it did at Dewsbury Road Hub.
