ROUGH SLEEPING AROUND ALDI TUNSTALL ROAD

Council Officers and I are now working with Aldi on Tunstall Road to progress a planning application to allow them to install a roller shutter at the front of the store.

This will, if approved via planning, allow them to close-off the covered trolley area, removing an area used for rough sleepers overnight and some of the more aggressive beggars in the area.

This will greatly improve security for Aldi staff and local residents.

We’re also working with Aldi and Poundland to progress a planning application to allow the creation of a bespoke bin storage space, removing the need to have cage-trolley left outside with waste in them.

These are still subject to approval of planning applications.
