The land behind Dewsbury Road Community Hub and Library has been problematic for a short while and our initial plans were to fence off the land.

However, as a partnership, we came to the view that this would create a problematic space which could be broken into and therefore, was not the right solution.

Working with officers in Housing Leeds and other partners, we're developing early plans to improve the space and dissuade future antisocial use by implementing a series of biodiversity improvements via successional planting and installing several history interpretation boards to tell the lost story of this part of the old township of Hunslet.

The area closest to the rear of the Eritrean Orthodox church will be filled and flattened and the fencing repaired, removing the depression that exists which collects rubbish.

The whole area would be planted to ensure a spread of colour throughout the entirety of the year.

The footways would be lined by a series of historical interpretation boards telling the area's history, including the lost manor which gave Hunslet Hall Road its name.

Once more developed plans are ready, we'll share these with the public for an initial comment.
