Positive Policing Initiatives in Leeds City Centre

This week, officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have been continuously working to address a range of issues, from criminal behaviour to drug dealing, all with the goal of keeping Leeds City Centre safe. Here are just some highlights of the proactive work being carried out:

• Wanted Male Arrested: PCSOs on foot patrol near the Bus Station spotted a 40-year-old male who was wanted for recall to prison. The male was swiftly arrested, demonstrating the team's vigilance and commitment to ensuring offenders are held accountable.

• Theft from Shops Operation: Officers participated in a targeted operation aimed at tackling theft from shops. A male was arrested for three shop thefts and for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). Additionally, another male was arrested near Kirkgate Market for theft, reinforcing the ongoing efforts to protect local businesses.

• Proactive Patrols for Youths with Weapons: In the evening, plain-clothes officers carried out proactive patrols targeting youths carrying weapons. Several searches were conducted, leading to the arrest of a male who was wanted on multiple warrants.

• Drug Dealing Arrests at Penny Pocket Park: Officers observed two males involved in drug dealing near the Bus Station at Penny Pocket Park. After a foot chase, the males were arrested, and a quantity of drugs and cash were seized. Both remain in custody, and the investigation is ongoing. NPT will continue to focus on drug-related offences in the area.

• Joint Operation with Op Jemlock: As part of a joint operation targeting street robbery, NPT officers chased four males observed acting suspiciously. During the pursuit, a knife and a stolen mobile phone (which had just been taken from a member of the public) were recovered. All four individuals have been charged with robbery.

These operations highlight the ongoing commitment of NPT officers and their dedication to reducing crime and improving safety for all those in Leeds City Centre.
