As part of a rolling programme of Leeds Housing estate clean-ups in Hunslet and Riverside Ward, we have arranging for Cleaner Neighbourhoods to address the public realm standards of the estate caused by the backlog of work and staff absence caused by the pandemic.
Over a period of five weeks on a Friday, Cleaner Neighbourhoods will be conducting the following tasks on top of their normal duties of litter picking, fly tipping removal and road sweeping: · Weed ginnels, footpaths and carpark areas.
· Cut overgrown vegetation in ginnels or encroaching on footpaths
· Footpath edging to remove soil/grass creep from green areas.
· Sticker up street furniture with dog fouling warning stickers
Building on lessons learnt from the first estate clean-up on the Telfords in Hunslet, it has been agreed to target smaller areas each week. This will ensure staff are not over stretched and the chances of disruption to the planned clean-ups are reduced. The work on this estate will be split up as follows:
Red: Friday September 10th
Blue: Friday September 17th
Green: Friday September 24th
Yellow: Friday October 1st
Black: Friday October 8th
We are keen for residents to get involved so we can clean and tidy estate as much as we can and events with the contact details for each day will be posted via my Facebook Page next week.
