Update: Youth Service Review

Following the citywide Youth Service Review by the council, it is proposed Hunslet and Riverside has no reduction in its core youth service provision despite council budget pressures. The ward will also benefit from additional enhanced contracts and grants. These contracts will be co-produced with the third sector- who can then be commissioned to do the work. The contracts will be 3-5 years in length to give providers certainty and these contracts will cover work with children aged 11 and below and/or young people over the age of 17.

The grants will provide 1-2 years of funding for time-limited and discrete pieces of work. These grants can be applied for by either the councils in-house youth service or third sector providers.

The Youth Work Review paper will be presented to the Executive Board on the 21/4/21 to be formally accepted. Consultation events to share the new structure for Leeds and co-produce the project briefs for the enhanced the youth work contracts and grants will then be carried out. Implementation of the grant scheme will start from October 2021 and the enhanced youth work contracts will be issued between December 2021 and March 2022. Implementation of the enhanced youth work contracts will then start in April 2022
