National Highways have let you know of some essential works they're carrying out work on the Westbury footbridge, which crosses the M621 near junction 7 (Stourton) between Westbury Place North and Parnaby Road.
From 21 July they eill be commencing works on the footbridge to replace the anti-slip surfacing, as well as waterproofing and replacing the joint sealant at this structure. The bridge will initially remain open for pedestrian access; however, the closure will come into effect from 24 July 2025.
While this is carried out, they will need to close the footbridge for six weeks. The work is expected to finish on 31 August 2025.
During this period, a section of the Parnaby Road footpath will also be closed. Should works extend beyond 31 August, access will be managed by allowing pedestrians access during school start and end times.
A diversion will be in place for pedestrians via Parnaby Road, Middleton Road, Pepper Road, Clayton Road and Westbury Place.
A section of the footpath between Westbury Place North and Clayton Road will be cleared of overgrown vegetation.
They'll also install CCTV and warning signage throughout the work along this section.
To keep disruption to a minimum, they are carrying out this work during the school summer holidays.
However, they apologise for any delays or inconvenience caused by these works.
