What I've Been Doing

Writer: Cllr Paul WrayCllr Paul Wray

Over the last week and a half, there have been several meetings and events I haven’t had a chance to post about, so here is a quick summary of that additional work, which is all on top of what I have posted about and casework.

On Friday 8th, I had a catch-up with Cllr Andrew Scopes about cross-ward issues in Beeston and joint project work between the two wards.

On Sunday 9th, I visited a community meal at Beeston Parish Church, open to anyone. It was nice to see many people from my part of LS11 and LS10 attend. This is every second Sunday at 16:30 and is free to attend.

On Monday 10th, I dropped into Involve Leeds to catch up with Claire, in my role as Chair of Trustees, to talk about ongoing projects.

Later that evening, I attended the Labour Group of Councillors for updates on the work of the administration.

On Tuesday 11th, I meet with Cllr Mohammed Iqbal and Safer Strong Community Officers for the ward for an update on local projects and work we have commissioned. The meeting overran, and a second meeting will be needed to cover off all the projects going on.

On Wednesday 12th, I attended the Hunslet Carr Primary School as one of the school's governors.

In the evening, I dropped into the FoodCycle West Yorkshire Community Meal at St. Lukes Church, Holbeck and had a chance to catch up with locals of local residents from my area of LS10 and LS11. This is every Wednesday from 18:30 and is free to attend.

On Thursday 13th, I dropped into the Friends of Hunslet Moor, who were having a meeting with Groundwork Yorkshire about future Corporate Social Responsibility Days they wished to plan.

I then attend the 1st Leeds Pride Steering Group meeting in preparation for this year’s event, helping to ensure residents needs in that part of the City Centre are understood.

I then dropped in to see Lyn, who was having tea with the Lord Mayor of Leeds Abigail Marshall Katung, to celebrate her works towards making more toilets stoma-friendly, ensuring dignity for the thousands of people in Leeds who have one.

On Friday 14th, I had a meeting with equity managers who are supporting a planned round table on men’s health in Leeds in partnership with Men's Health Unlocked.

I then had a 1:1 with Sarah at Vera Media in my role of Chair of the Board of Directors.

In the evening, I attended the Hunslet Tenants and Residents Association meeting.
