ℹ️ YOUR VOICE, YOUR COMMUNITY BEESTON HILL MEETING INITAL FEEDABCK

Thank you to everyone who attended last tonight's Your Voice, Your Community meeting at Hamara Healthy Living Centre. There will be others targeted at other sections of Beeston Hill in the coming months.

The discussion understandably focused on crime and antisocial behaviour, specifically drug activity and soliciting on Tempest Road and surrounding streets. Thank you to everyone who expressed your honest feelings and concerns.

All feedback and comments will now be compiled and reported back to relevant services and partners.

I will liaise with Council Officers, West Yorkshire Police and the Leeds Antisocial Behaviour Team, along with local policymakers, to arrange a public meeting on these issues.

Depending on scheduling, this will be either a standalone meeting or held in partnership with the Beeston Hill Residents Association.

Your frustrations regarding drugs, soliciting, antisocial behaviour, and environmental concerns were clearly articulated, and we understand that there is perception that there has been a lack of visible action.

While significant work is ongoing – and I receive constant updates – I recognise that public perception is paramount as it creates background feeling.

This is a fair challenge to us all.

Therefore, we need to improve how services communicate the extensive work being done, as well as the complexities that impact their efforts, so you understand their limitations as well and why things take so long sometimes.

More broadly, I will work with officers to create a specific action plan for different parts of Beeston Hill. This will be a live, public document, or outlining ongoing work.

This public document will be underpinned by the more technical work of existing problem-solving groups, the Neighbourhood Improvement Plan, and various other behind-the-scenes projects. L

An initial draft will be provided for resident feedback.

I will be starting this work today and tomorrow when I meet with officers and partners.

While this is ongoing it is vital, indeed critical, everyone does their part to report issues they see.

- Don’t assume someone else has.

- Don’t assume service know.

Resources are allocated based on demand or immediate threat.

If people are not reporting what they see, then areas or areas of work who do get more reports, will get more focus, because resources are limited.

There's no point in me pretending that's not the case, because it's the reality of how resources are allocated.
