Yesterday I joined the Housing Leeds estate inspection of Belinda Street, Balmoral Chase, and the Hemingways in Hunslet, but sadly I couldn't stay for the Whitfield element.

It was a pretty standard inspection, with some fly tipping, spotting blocked drains, overgrown bushes, damaged guttering and down pipes etc.

Several years ago, we looked at the cost of removing all the cobbles, which came out at an eye-watering £150k cost across the whole estate

However, the surface level planters in these cobbled areas do need to be maintained and I have asked Housing Leeds, Parks, and GM Continental to provide me with a plan to renew these with manageable planting that can then be added to the regular maintenance program.

Hunslet Tenants and Residents Association, who I recently approved a grant to provide gardening tools to, have indicated they will help to maintain any improvements.
