Hunslet Square Dedication

 What an amazing dedication event for Hunslet Square. Thank you to Cllr Harland for delivering the thank you speech.

Thank also to the amazing Opera North for their singing (clips to follow), and to Hunslet & Belle Isle Community Project for putting on activities for the personal.

The rain and the wind stopped no one!

Huge thanks to Jas from our Community Hubs Team who has put up with years of my emails, and the ups and downs of funding challenges, not least due to the pandemic.

Thanks to brilliant Anwyn for creating an epic mural of Hunslet, and to all the residents, community groups and projects that helped her design it.

Thanks to Lynn who had designed the soon to be installed history and nature interpretation boards, with the amazing support of Hunslet Remembered Group.

Thank you to Groundwork Yorkshire for the planting work landscaping.

Finally, thanks to Cllr Mohammed Iqbal and Alderwoman Nash, then a councillor, for letting me push on with this project when we started four years or more ago.

I promised I would deliver a public space for Hunslet, and we're delivering it.

Phase 1 is all but done and the work now starts to bring markets and events to the space, but also to find the funding for Phase 2, so we can see the full master plan delivered.

We want the retail spaces for start ups, performance space seating, the outdoor cinema space, and the tramline public artwork.

We're not done yet!
