 Congratulations go to Sienna from Harewood Church of England Primary School, who has been elected as Leeds Children's Mayor, and to everyone who took part.

Well done to all the children who made it to the final, they all did amazingly, but a special callout for Holly Saunders from Hunslet Carr Primary School.

She spoke with amazing confidence and clarity, doing her community proud, and the school, something I'll pass on at our next full governors' meeting.

The Leeds Children's Mayor program plays an important part in inspiring young people to get active in our democratic process, and we all need to do more to inspire young people to value the precious freedoms that we have to choose who governs us, not by the force of might but by the power of a pencil and an X in a box.
