This is Cllr Mohammed Iqbal and my report for this months residents meeting.
Dear Resident(s),
Moor Road at the junction of Arthington Avenue Speed Indicator Device: This has now been installed.
Balm Road Footway next to Hunslet Methodist Church: This has been chased up, as this fell off the radar due to other local issues.
Woodhouse Hill Drive Road Surface: The Council and Yorkshire Water are still in legal conversations as Yorkshire Water still refuses to accept LCC is the new developer of the road.
Moor Road and Royal Drive Pavement Parking: This is still an issue but much of the parking, although inconsiderate, is not illegal.
The Sun Inn: The Council has indicated it will not support an application that sees the site demolished. We will now need to wait to see what they apply for instead.
Arthington View A-frame Dropped Kerb: Highways Leeds have agreed to install this, and it is now being added to the work list.
Antisocial Behaviour around Hunslet Carr Primary School: This has reduced significantly according to reports. The model developed to address issues here will now be developed into a package of support to help other locations with a similar issue.
Balm Road/Belle Isle Road/Moor Road Junction Red Light Violations: Highways Leeds have still not booked this in, and it has been raised again.
Antisocial Behaviour Around Arthington Stores: West Yorkshire Police and the Antisocial Behaviour Team are aware of the issues in the area, but officers are asking for more reports to help with the evidence they need to take future actions.
Hunslet History Interpretation Sign at the Library: These are due to be installed imminently.
Ebor Terrace Bins on Woodhouse Hill Road: Refuse have recontacted the households according to officers, we are awaiting feedback about any improvement.
St Mary’s Spire Crack: We have had no reply, and we have chased this again.
Hunslet Chapel: The structural survey of the building to improve its energy efficiency has not taken place yet and until this is done, we do not know the cost to bring the chapel to a usable standard for the future.
Missing Stepped Fence Royal Close Ginnel and Fence at Royal Grove: The fence has finally been installed. The last staggered barrier is being chased.
Braithwaite Row: We are still chasing a works date. It has not been booked in yet.
Hunslet Square Mural: This has now been installed.
Footbridge Surface at Westbury Place North to Parnaby Road Surface: National Highways have advised the work to resurface the footbridge should now happen between late July and September.
Royal Action Day: Officers are arranging this now, and it will focus on clearing grot and hotspots across the estate and arranging for a one-off large-scale bulky waste collection to allow residents to carry out a big clean out, and hopefully reduce fly-tipping.
Hunslet Carr Primary School Tree: The school have said they will book this in to be done over the holidays with other land maintenance work.
Arthington Court Green Bin: These have now been installed, providing these residents with green bins for the first time in nearly two decades.
Woodhouse Hill Abandoned Car: DLVA now informed and scheduled for removal.
Keep Clear Markings Telford Terrace: These are now in this year’s list of works and will be completed by the end of the calendar year. No specific date can be given.
Hunslet Cemetery War Memorial Cleaning: Although not in Hunslet and Riverside Ward, I’m chasing up what we need to do to arrange the stone to be cleaned. This is a specialist job and will be costly but there has been demand for this to be done as it has not been done in a while.
