Major Roadworks: Call Lane

What’s Happening: Connecting Leeds will start construction work on Call Lane from the 11/1/21 as part of the improvement works to the public realm at the Corn Exchange. Initially, they’ll excavate four areas on Call Lane to prepare for new trees to be planted. This work will take place during the day and their regular working patterns will be from 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Saturday. Vehicle access will be maintained to Call Lane while they do this work.

Will This Impact Residents or Businesses: To dig the holes, they’ll need to use heavy machinery to break through the existing pavement and road surfaces. This work is noisy, but they’ll keep this to a minimum wherever possible. they'll also need to create temporary footpaths so people can safely walk along Call Lane.

What Happens Next: From week commencing 25/1/21, Connecting Leeds will need to close Call Lane at the junction of Duncan Street while they dig an inspection hole. This closure is to keep their workforce safe and allow enough room for machinery.

Vehicles Access: Vehicle access to Call Lane will need to be via The Calls during this work. Connecting Leeds will supply a map with further details soon.

Future Work: Connecting Leeds will renew the existing footpaths from week commencing 1/2/21. To do this, they’ll need to use heavy machinery to dig up the existing footpaths and kerbs in preparation for new footpaths and kerbs to be installed. The work is noisy, but they’ll keep this to a minimum wherever possible. Most of it will take place on our day shift, but there might be sometimes when they need to work through the night. They’ll make sure local residents and business are give you as much notice as possible about when this will happen.
