THE SUN INN (CHURCH STREET) UPDATE

Following my request for enforcement action against the landowner, Planning Enforcement officers have now reported back that the owner has committed to submitting a planning pre-application for the redevelopment in early 2025.

If they fail to do so, they will then consider formal legal action to ensure this happens. I have expressed my concern this has been promised before and not done, and officers must force the owner's hand.

In the meantime, I've asked for enforcement action around the land management of the site. Officers in the local environmental team have said they wish to allow the owner time to submit a pre-planning application before taking action against them for the poor state of the land.

I have insisted that I expect this element of enforcement to progress now, as there is no excuse for the land being in this state. I will escalate this element if this does not happen.
